Fusion - Standard Box Fusion is a unique concept in fire alarm control panels, combining an analogue addressable alarm system with conventional and twin wire technologies. Fusion is capable of running any or all three technologies in a single control panel with the use of modular, plug-in cards, making it the most versatile panel available today.

Fusion can be installed to operate with the vast majority of existing detectors, call points and sounders and can accommodate the latest versions when these are upgraded. It is therefore effectively ‘future proof’ and provides the major advantage that existing systems can be upgraded in phases, as budgets allow. If required, Fusion can be configured to support older style detector circuits and detector circuits utilising the latest technology simultaneously. And because Fusion is based upon tried and tested technology derived from Haes Systems Excel (Conventional) and Vector (Analogue addressable) control panels, reliability is ensured from day one.

With an extensive array of programmable features, Fusion comes with user friendly programming software for Windows to allow rapid configuration for all applications. Installers can use the software off-site and then data and settings can be transferred to the panel by way of a USB flash memory stick, although all programming is still possible at the panel.

Trade Counter

For some time now a number of Haes customers have taken advantage of the trade counter at our offices in Uxbridge. The trade counter provides our customers with the opportunity to place their order prior to collection or drop in and buy those urgent supplies.

On display at the trade counter is the full range of Haes products as well as a wide range from other manufacturers. In addition to the standard fire alarm products you can now purchase other items you may require to maintain or install a system.

The trade counter is open from 8:30 to 5:00pm and is staffed by Haes’ friendly and knowledgeable staff.

It has recently been reported that many businesses have purchased off-the-shelf fire risk assessments in the belief that these ready-made documents would satisfy their legal obligations. However, when the Fire and Rescue Service inspect these premises, the businesses get a nasty surprise when they discover they are not complying with the requirements of the FSO (2005).

This misunderstanding could provide you with the ideal opportunity to contact your customers, offering them a service to ensure that they have met their obligations, which will hopefully lead to extra business for yourselves.

Many business owners were not aware of the following:

A fire risk assessment will only satisfy their legal duties if it:

· is site specific

· portrays an accurate and honest account of the fire safety arrangements in place at their premises

· has been reviewed regularly (annually)

A fire risk assessment must evaluate:

· potential sources of ignition, oxygen and fuel

· precautions taken to prevent or restrict the spread of fire – fire doors, sprinkler systems

· fire escape routes – are they clearly identified and kept clear from obstruction

· that staff and visitors are provided with sufficient information relating to fire procedures
